The Town of Pamplico is governed by a Mayor and six Town Council Members under the Council form of government as authorized by the Home Rule Act, S.C. Code 5-510. Current officials are:

Meetings of Town Council are held the third Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Council Chambers, 201 River Road. The Council oversees all town operations, services and programs. Assisting the Mayor and Council are nine employees including the Town Clerk/Treasurer, Utilities Billing Clerk, Police Chief, Public Works Supervisor and a part-time Town Administrator is provided by the Pee Dee Regional Council of Governments.

The Pamplico Public Works Department operates the Town's water and sewer systems.
The Town's water system serves approximately 616 customers both inside and outside the town. The system includes 2 water wells and a 200,000 gallon water tank. The Town is currently seeking resources to construct a second water tank, to provide an emergency connection with the City of Johnsonville water system, and to provide services to approximatley 18 residences on E. Shirley Road. The Town recently completed the Seven Mile Road Water Line Project that extended the Town's quality water services to approximatley 40 additional residences outside the municipal boundaries. The SC Commerce Department provided a Community Development Block Grant to assist with this water system expansion.
The 2019 Annual Drinking Water Quality Report has been distributed. The report indicates that the Pamplico Water System provides excellent quality drinking water that meets all federal and state regulations. The Town's sewer system includes a state-of-the-art treatment facility located off River Road near the Great Pee Dee River approximatley 2 miles east of Pamplico. The Town's system serves approximatley 470 customers including Florence County School District Two facilities on S.C. 51 South.

The Town of Pamplico's Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department is responsible for operations and improvements for three town parks and two welcome signs on S.C. 51. LaVerne Ard Park on Sixth Avenue, which is leased to Florence County's Recreation Department, includes several recreation fields for baseball, softball, football, and soccer.
Two public parks are located in residential areas on Fifth Avenue and Trade Street. A variety of playground equipment is available for children and picnic shelters, tables and barbeque grills are provided. The Trade Street park includes a recently improved double tennis court facility that funded with a grant from the SC Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism and Florence County.
10-and-Under Tennis Camp A Success
The Town of Pamplico sponsored a four day tennis camp for 1st- 6th grade kids on the new versa court tennis courts in Dargan Place Park (Trade St) on July 23-26, 2012. The camp was divided into two age groups. The 6-8 year olds began at 8:30 a.m. and ended at 9:30. The 9-10 year olds started at 10:00 a.m. and finished at 11:00. A total of 16 children came each day. Council Member Harriet Cox and Hannah-Pamplico Schools tennis coach Mary Beth Belk-Popecki conducted the camp and were assisted by three high school varsity players and others. The camp was a success according to Ms. Cox and she said plans are being made to have a 10-and-Under (Quick Start) tennis tournament for the Pamplico Cypress Festival September 28-29, 2012. Great American Cleanup Day
The Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department coordinates the Great American Cleanup Day annually in association with South Carolina Palmetto Pride agency. Volunteers come together on a Saturday morning during the months of March - May for the purpose of removing trash from the Town's public spaces including streets and parks. The most recent cleanup day was on May 18, 2013. Thirty-nine (39) volunteers were treated to a hot dog cook-out following the cleanup activities. The volunteers removed 58 bags of trash from selected areas. Council member Harriet Cox coordinates the cleanup campaign for the Town. In 2010 the Town sponsored a Cleanup Day Sign contest for art students at Florence School District Two students. Town Cleanup Day Volunteers 5/18/2013
The Pamplico Volunteer Fire Department serves the Town of Pamplico and surrounding area. Fire protection services are provided by approximatley 20 dedicated volunteers, and the Town budget supports the department's operational expenses. Town officials and the Fire Chief are currently addressing the upgrade of firefighting equipment to enhance fire protection and to lower the Town's ISO insurance rating.
The Pamplico Theater is a historic community treasure located on Main Street in the downtown business district. The building is situated between the Dozier M. Munn Florence County Library and Service Motor Company. Florence County donated the facility to the Town of Pamplico in 2013. The Town is now moving forward with needed improvements, beginning with a new roof, to convert it for use as a community center. Additional needed renovations include a heating and cooling system, and interior improvements. The Town is seeking assistance with these renovations. The Town provides solid waste management services for residential and commercial customers under a contract with Waste Management Inc.
